What an Irish licence plate must look like
S.I. No. 318 of 1992 (as amended) sets out what an Irish plate must look like: black characters on a white reflective background, a maximum character height of 70mm and width of 36mm with a 10mm stroke, the Irish-language county name across the top and the EU band with twelve gold stars and IRL on the left. Every plate we make meets those requirements exactly, so you don't fail an NCT or get pulled over.
