How the plate maker works
Open the designer, choose how many plates you need, then type your year code, county code and numerals. The preview updates as you type so you can confirm the exact layout — spacing, county name and EU band included — before checkout. There is no proof to approve by email and no back-and-forth: what you see is what gets printed.
Made to order, not off a shelf
Every plate is cut and printed for one registration, in-house, on the day. That means we can handle current three-digit year codes such as 261 and 262 as well as older two-digit formats like 05 or 99, and any Irish county code.
Road-legal by default
We print one style: the legal one. Black characters on white reflective sheet at the correct height, width, stroke and spacing, with the Irish-language county name across the top and the EU band with IRL on the left. That is what an NCT tester or a Garda at a checkpoint expects to see.
What we don't make
No novelty fonts, no tinted or carbon backgrounds, no 3D, 4D or gel raised characters, and no square or motorcycle sizes. Those are either not road-legal in Ireland or outside our production, and we would rather say so up front than sell you something that fails a test.
Pricing and delivery
A single plate is €17, a matched front-and-rear pair is €29, and additional plates are €12 each. Shipping is added at checkout. Plates are packed flat in protective sleeves and sent by tracked post, arriving in 1-2 working days anywhere in Ireland.
Frequently asked
Can I make my own number plate online?
+
Yes. You enter your year code, county code and numerals in our plate maker, see a live preview of the finished plate, and we print and post it. You can only order plates showing the registration assigned to a vehicle you own.
How much does a made-to-order plate cost?
+
€17 for a single plate and €29 for a front-and-rear pair, with each extra plate at €12. Shipping is calculated at checkout.
Are made-to-order plates road-legal?
+
Ours are. Every plate is printed to the official Irish specification — black characters on white reflective sheet at the correct character height, stroke and spacing, with the Irish county name and the EU/IRL band.
Can the plate maker do custom fonts or colours?
+
No. Irish plates have one legal style, and we only print that style. Novelty fonts, tinted backgrounds and 3D or gel effects are not road-legal here, so we do not offer them.
How quickly is my plate made?
+
Plates are printed in-house. Order before 2pm Monday–Friday and yours is printed and posted the same working day by tracked post, usually arriving in 1-2 working days.
Can I order a plate for a motorbike or trailer?
+
We make the standard 520mm × 110mm oblong car plate only. If your vehicle needs a square or motorcycle-size plate, that size is outside what we print.
